2018-2020 > Gifts of Summers' End

A series of embossed and etched porcelain bas-relief tiles depicting squash blossoms, lettuce, and an onion with eucalyptus leaves. Based on gifts received in the summer of 2019 from neighbors' gardens in Sicily, this suite of work was made during the summer of 2020 while in lockdown during the height of Covid restrictions. Unable to travel to my loved ones that summer, a lot of time was spent looking at photographs and picturing myself back in my Sicilian familial home, reflecting on longing, hope and gratitude for the small joys of life.
