Master Printer Collaboration during Residency with Flatbed Press & Center for Contemporary Printmaking: In the Grove and In the Field
Flatbed Press & Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Austin, TX
February-March 2023

In 2023 I was invited to do a residency and began a new print collaboration with Master Printer Alyssa Ebinger and Flatbed Press to complete three lithographic print editions. The prints created include: In the Grove, a 3-layer 6-color lithograph (key image on stone) with chine colle, and In the Field, a 3-layer 5-color lithograph (key image on stone) with chine colle, also printed as a smaller limited monochrome edition as part of the Flatbed Friends-Kollwitz Circle, a subscription program for member patrons. The new editions were featured as pre-publication proofs at the Baltimore Print Fair in March 2023 and will be officially debuted in an upcoming solo exhibition at Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s Gallery in early 2024 and will are carried by both Flatbed Press and Cade Tompkins Projects. This collaboration was made possible with funding from Georgia State University’s Pre-Tenure Scholarly Support Grant of $20,000.

About Flatbed Press:
Fine art prints are sought after by many collectors. Beginning collectors are able to start valuable collections within a budget and seasoned collectors can continue to expand their acquisitions in a medium they have come to love. Flatbed welcomes proposals for contract printing, in which the artist assumes all printing costs. Many artists are able to obtain support for printing fees through research grants, community foundations, or through the galleries that represent them. Co-publications are by invitation only and on a contract basis. Flatbed’s printers collaborate with artists from artistic conception through editioning. Artists may choose to create editions of prints or multiple originals using intaglio, lithography, or relief methods. Artists may also choose to create unique prints such as monotypes or monoprints at Flatbed.

Flatbed Press offers artists, gallery owners, and independent publishers the ability to publish their own fine art prints. Flatbed has extensive experience creating fine art print projects for artists, non-profit organizations, patrons, and galleries. Projects have ranged from single images printed in editions to deluxe artist books. Some of these projects have been used to generate funds for non-profit organizations; other projects create valuable inventory for galleries and artists. Flatbed offers its collaborative and editioning services on a contract basis. Flatbed also seeks to create residencies and projects to benefit arts organizations.
